The Publishing House and its History

The days in which religious graphic reproductions and theological texts were published in Friedrichstraße No. 9 in Munich, under the stewardship of publishing house founder Josef Müller, have long been entered the annals of history. Founded in 1896, the publishing house has now carved out its niche in children, gift books and calendars, the pillars of its publishing programme

Managing Director Michael Schweins heads the company that has belonged to the Bonnier Group of Sweden since 2000. Around 70 employees undertake inspiring challenges and fill the time honoured publishing house offices with the day-to-day business, with verve and with books where one can see the passion that has gone into them.

Seen through the eyes of a child the world is excitingly colourful and as multifaceted as our robust board books for little explorers.

Our collection of varied picture books features bold drawings of exciting adventures and inspiring stories drawn from children’s everyday life.

The heroes of our children’s literature make for exciting and enjoyable reading and encourage kids to read.

Our children’s activities offer wonderful games and fun for creative minds of all ages.

All kinds of distinctive themes can be found in our children’s non-fiction books—from funny, strange and record-breaking to the world of football.

Our successful gift books and calendars are as versatile as life’s special occasions. You can make someone happy in lots of different ways—poetic, humorous, loving. Whatever you decide we have the right gift for every occasion, 365 days a year.
